2025 is a special year as it marks the 225th anniversary of The Great Revival of 1800.
A three-day celebration is being planned for October 10-12, 2025 on the grounds of the Red River Meeting House.
This special historical religious event will include exploring the history of Rev. James McGready as he came to Logan County in 1796 and his three congregations (Red River, Gasper River, and Muddy River) that he led.
In these three churches folks were asked to fast and pray.
In Rev. McGready’s writings that were published in 1837, twenty years after his death, titled THE POSTHUMOUS WORKS OF JAMES McGREADY, it is written about the ‘awakening’ that occurred and goes on to say, “But the year 1800 exceeds all that my eyes ever beheld on earth.”
As the folks in Rev. McGready’s three churches were asked to fast and pray a certain time each month, we ask that you set aside the 25th of each month to fast and pray leading up to this special 3 day event in October, 2025.
Please make plans to join us to commemorate and celebrate the 225th anniversary. Further details will be forthcoming and will be posted on this website and Facebook account in the coming months.
Save the date: October 10-12, 2025.
